CIBC FirstCaribbean offers special banking services for seniors

CIBC FirstCaribbean, Antigua is implementing new measures to specifically serve seniors and at-risk clients during this very difficult COVID-19 pandemic.

Effective Monday March 30, 2020, the period 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. will be prioritized for seniors.

The bank is also implementing the following;

  • New hours of business: Monday to Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 12 noon and Fridays 8am to 2:00 pm. These new opening times will allow the bank to effect cleaning and sanitizing of the premises.
  • Reduced services to limit face-to-face contact so no new accounts will be opened; no dormant account activation; no large cash over the counter transactions during the Covid-19 pandemic.
  • Customers are encouraged to use online banking and mobile banking to conduct all banking needs including bank to bank transfers, bill payment and international wires.
  • Credit cards can be paid via the ABM even if the customer does not have an account with the bank.

CIBC FirstCaribbean is appealing to employers not to pay staff with cheques but rather send funds direct to staff accounts, where possible.  If a staff member does not have an account with the bank, they can apply for an E-Cheque card which is similar to an ATM card.

The bank has already announced a six month moratorium on loans and mortgages and 3 months for credit card payments to those clients who have been impacted.

CIBC FirstCaribbean is encouraging everyone to adhere to social distancing and pay attention to information and directives from the Government.
