Former Antigua and Barbuda tourism boss for the US dies

Marie Walker, the former Vice President of Sales and Marketing for the United States and Canadian markets, has died.

Walker was appointed by the Antigua & Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) Administration in January 2015 as part of a move to amalgamate the US and Canadian travel markets.

A year later, while in the first year of a two- year contract, she was sacked.

The sacking of the Jamaican national prompted the Opposition United Progressive Party (UPP) to question government’s hiring practices.
